Today we are announcing a change in nomenclature that affects the reporting of results and how they are compared with other laboratories.
We have collaborated with Sorenson Genomics on the nomenclature change to ensure the transition is made as smoothly as possible. Many of the markers in use are still fairly new out of research labs hence the amendments that need to be made every now and again.
A fuller technical run down of the marker changes can be found here.
DNA Heritage follows the NIST nomenclature where available and as such has today made the necessary adjustments for the markers affected in both Ybase and the DNA Heritage website.
Ybase users are also affected and so I will re-cap which are the amendments and who needs to update their records.
DYS461 will be reported with +1 from now on. All Ybase records and DNA Heritage results (in Oracle) have been updated today so there is no need to change.
GATA C4 now becomes DYS635. Both names are given at Ybase and DNA Heritage. This is just a change in name and thus no change in values.
GATA H4 now becomes TAGA H4 in line with NIST recommendations. Customers of Relative Genetics and DNA Heritage DO NOT have to update anything as results from these two companies have always been reported using the numbering system given.
Important note:
Family Tree DNA customers who have had 37-marker results which include this marker WILL HAVE TO ADD 1 to their GATA H4 values to update it to the newer TAGA H4 system in Ybase and thus be directly comparable with DNA Heritage and Relative Genetics customers, as well as any future research articles on this marker. Please go to http://www.ybase.org/edit.asp or http://www.ybase.org/password.asp if you require your passwords sent to your email address.
Information of the changes can also be read at http://www.ybase.org/convert.asp
Recent customers (i.e. during our promotion) of DNA Heritage will have Reports and Certificates printed and sent out with these new changes. We have held back from sending reports and certificates out until these changes were in place. We do have a Demo Report and Certificate available at http://www.dnaheritage.com/ydnapdfdownloads.asp |
